    Abstract :

Composite structures consisting of concrete slab and steel sections are widely used structural members in bridges and high-rise buildings. The composite action is established by connecting the concrete slab and the steel section by using shear connectors. Composite slabs consist of profiled steel deck with reinforced concrete topping. The decking not only acts as a permanent formwork to the concrete, but also provides sufficient shear bond with the concrete and acts compositely. In recent years, the composite slabs are preferred due to light weight, low cost construction and ability to defend the natural disasters. In this paper, we study the load – deflection behavior of steel-concrete composite slab with and without decks in finite element analysis using ANSYS software for axial load.
