    Abstract :

    Physical and chemical analyses, of ground water and lake water, collected from various places in Hyderabad region, India, were performed to test the water quality as per Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) and World Health Organization (WHO) standard. The parameters such as total hardness, pH, total dissolved solids, electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity and presence of chlorides, using conventional equipment and standard laboratory procedures, were evaluated. The reasons for the observed numbers and the trends is examined and validated.
