Microgrid has become a viable approach to make interconnection between various types of distributed energy sources based on renewable along with energy storage system and the utility grid. An independent DC microgrid and AC microgrid involves multiple conversion of power. This leads to less efficient system. Therefore, hybrid ac/dc microgrids are the appropriate solution as they amalgamate the main benefits of independent ac microgrid and dc microgrid. This paper reviews the overview of architecture, challenges and future scope in hybrid ac/dc microgrid.
