The cities are in constant flux trying to cope up with the urbanization and globalization and result of this is many Indian cities are going through transformation in their physical setting. It is very important to retain the quality of life within the cities which were established through the planned strategies by the forefathers over the years. These cities are to be understood in their geographical setting and contextual influences. The present and future development of these cities need to be channelized to retain the old or existing established character and make provision for newer development but keeping in mind the overall character of the city.
