    Abstract :

Power is the important source for any country’s development. In India around sixty four percentage of power generated from Thermal power station. Fossil fuels like coal, oil are mainly used in Thermal power plants. A study was conducted in Mettur Thermal Power plant for analyzing the performance of the 210 MW Boiler. The designed efficiency of the boiler is slightly varies with the calculated efficiency because of various reasons, amount that unburned fuel is the important one. To enhance the boiler efficiency, excess air was supplied to avoid the unburned fuel. A study was conducted with varies percentage of excess air from 10% to 31% with the interval of 3%. The efficiency of the boiler are calculated with this excess air. The excess air quantity is optimized.
