    Abstract :

    This paper presents the effects of mutual coupling on the optimization of linear antenna array. Firstly, the linear antenna array is optimized by using Genetic Algorithm without considering the effects of mutual coupling. After that mutual coupling is introduced to analyses its effect on the radiation pattern of antenna in terms of side lobe levels and nulls. It has been found that Side lobe level adjoining to the main lobes increased by 4.95 db. The antenna array is again optimized in the presence of mutual coupling to nullifying detrimental effects of mutual coupling and it has been found that 1.65 dB can be compensated when antenna array is optimized in the presence of mutual coupling.
