    Abstract :

Recently many attempts has to make in the field of seismic response of structures. Conventional earthquake resistance code state the provisions of design and safety by making structure more ductile and allow structure to undergo some deformation leading to affecting strength, serviceability and functionality of it. To overcome this drawbacks of conventional methods of seismic response control a new concept of Negative Stiffness Device is kept forward by researchers, which is capable of dissipating seismic force within the structure without affecting strength, serviceability and functionality of main structural frame. NSD applies force within the structure in the direction of external force which leads to reduction in stiffness of composite structure (NSD + Structure) knows as structural weakening; which further helps is in reduce seismic response parameter of structure by apparent yielding . This paper mainly focus on basic concept of NSD and analysis of a structural frame by applying NSD in form of chevron bracings without any arrangement to overcome excess deformation
