The availability of digital data such as audio, images and videos to the public has increased by the usage of internet and computers. Throughout the world there is an increasing demand for protecting privacy and copyright as per the privacy by design concept. Digital watermarking is a technology being developed in response to ensure and facilitate data authentication, security, owner identification and copyright protection of digital media .In this paper we start with an overview ,framework, requirement, applications, classification, performance evaluation metric, and a comparative analysis of some major watermarking techniques. In this survey our prime concern is stereo image only. Digital watermarking holds significant promise as one of the keys to protecting proprietary digital content in the coming years thus working synchronously.
